DESCRIPTION:Get to know your cycle lanes!\nAs part of Bike Week Limerick\, join the Thomond Thread\, a guided group cycle designed to help people get to know the network on the Northside and see how cycle lanes link across the city. Did you know there are over 115 km of cycle lanes in Limerick?\nThis is a relaxed\, inclusive group ride\, led by experienced bike leaders and using cycle lanes as much as possible. The route is flat and loop based\, with short loops of up to 5 km. Participants can choose how much they cycle – if you’re comfortable completing all the loops\, the total distance is up to 15 km.\nThe ride is suitable for all ages and abilities and is about building confidence for everyday cycling.\nChildren must be accompanied by an adult.

Activity Stations\n• Obstacle Course: Using soft cones and pool noodles to create a “”slalom”” that helps with steering and focus.\n• Slow Race: A favourite from previous years—the winner is the last person to cross the finish line without putting their feet down!\n• Bike Bling Station: A creative corner where kids can decorate their helmets or handlebars with streamers\, stickers\, and cards for their spokes.\n3. Safety & Support\n• Basic Maintenance: A “”Bike Doctor”” stand to help with pumping tires\, oiling chains\, and adjusting seat heights.\n• Helmet Checks: Ensuring every participant has a properly fitted helmet before they hit the track.\n• The “”Chill-Out”” Zone: A quiet area (The Cubbie) away from the main activity with beanbags and sensory toys if a child needs a break from the stimulation.\n4. DESCRIPTION:Help your child cycle with confidence \nJoin our Learn to Cycle Programme\, a mixed-ability (children with and without additional needs) programme helping children build skills\, confidence and independence on two wheels. \nVenue: Gaelscoil Osraí\, R95 AT85\nDates: Monday 11th May to Wednesday 13th May \nTimes:\n7:00pm to 8:00pm: Ages 5 to 10\n8:00pm to 9:00pm: Ages 11+ \nWith experienced instructors\, small groups and a safe\, supportive setting\, children can learn at their own pace and enjoy the excitement of cycling. \nLimited spaces available\nOnly €15 per person \nImportant: \nA safe\, working bike or balance bike required.\nAll children must wear a helmet at all times.\nBrakes/gears must be in working order.\nTyres must be inflated to the correct pressure (see side of tyre for information).\nIf your child is not yet cycling\, please remove the pedals before the first session.\nParents/guardians/care staff must remain on site. \nTutors cannot carry out bike repairs during sessions.
