SUMMARY:Cork Through The Centuries – A City Cycle
DESCRIPTION:Participants will meet on St Patrick’s Quay before setting out on a guided cycle through Cork City. The route will visit several historic and scenic areas including the River Lee quays\, the city centre\, and other well-known locations around the city. The group will cycle at an easy pace with short stops along the way where the guide will share stories about the history of Cork and how the city developed over the past 1\,500 years. The cycle will use cycle lanes and quieter streets where possible. Children attending must be 16 or older.

This will ensure all bikes are safe and ready for use. \nFollowing this\, pupils from 2nd to 6th class\, accompanied by teachers and parents\, will cycle to Key Shore in Newtowncunningham\, where they will take part in a beach clean-up to support the school’s Green Flag environmental work. Younger pupils from Junior and Senior Infants and 1st class will remain at school to enjoy a supervised playground cycle with simple cycle routes and activities. \nThe day will conclude with a school picnic and spot prizes\, including bike lights\, bells\, and locks\, celebrating pupils’ participation and promoting safe and active travel.
