DESCRIPTION:This cycle is designed for confident leisure cyclists\, who are maybe not quite confident enough to tackle some sections of busy roads or rush hour traffic\, which may prevent them from cycling to and from work. We will cycle out to Little Island showing you how to deal with busier roads\, while avoiding the most hostile junctions. How to strike the balance between finding quick and direct routes while still avoiding any actually dangerous sections. We will come back via the ferry and old railways lines show quick and direct can sometimes also be quite and beautiful.

This session focuses on key safety components such as tyres\, brakes\, chain and overall bike condition\, and is delivered in a clear\, step by step way\, with opportunities to ask questions and carry out checks under supervision. \nParticipants then have the opportunity to try an e-bike in a controlled environment. This includes a short induction explaining the controls\, safe operation and key differences from a standard bicycle\, followed by a supervised test ride in a designated safe area. \nAll activities are delivered with a strong emphasis on safety\, accessibility and inclusivity. DESCRIPTION:“We will hold a Bike Day in our 3rd term.\nOn this day\, children are encouraged to cycle to school in so far as is possible. Children from 3rd up to 6th class go on a school cycle on a local route. Teachers and parents guide the children on this cycle. We will also have a garda car to accompany the cycle. Children stop at a half way mark for refreshments.\nChildren from Infants up to 2nd class will participate in bike day on the school grounds. Circuits will be set out on our school grounds on different yards. The children will get to experience the different circuits on different yards. Children and parents that help out on the day will get treats and refreshments.\nStart Point Kilmihil N.S.
