The event will consist of basic bike and helmet set up and maintenance with our cycle coach (last year it was amazing watching the young children take the learning on board). Then we will lead the group pm a cycle on a flatish quiet road – we are guided by the participants as to how far to go c. 8k with small children. After a short safety chat and route guidance\, families can set off at a relaxed pace to explore the Greenway together. The event has a strong community and accessibility focus\, with the emphasis on fun and accessibility. Slow and steady will be the name of the game in the ‘Slow Bicycle Race\,’ where participants in adult and child categories will compete to beat the slowest time and win a cycling-themed prize.\nThose who are curious about electric bicycles will have a chance to cycle one around the park and discover a great way to get around\, without even breaking a sweat. A highlight of Gorey Bike Fest is a “Slow Roll\,” a fun all-ages cycle from the park to the town centre and back again (2.5km). Everyone taking part will receive a refreshment voucher for The Coffee Pod. Children must be accompanied by an adult and all participants must wear a helmet and high vis.
