DESCRIPTION:‘Slí na gCaisleán’ (‘The Way of the Castles’) represents a guided ‘Off the Beaten Track’ heritage cycle tour along a 40km looped trail that encompasses seven castles on the north and eastern side of Galway city and into Galway county. The tour will start at the Plots on the Dyke Road and continue to the vicinity of castles at Terryland\, Menlo\, Cloonacauneen\, Killeen\, Ballybrit\, Castlegar and Ballindooley.\nThis leisurely cycle will journey over hills\, along botharins\, past abandoned farms\, ruined castles\, karst outcrops\, bogs\, lakes\, dykes\, turloughs and meadows.\nThe tour will introduce participants to the wonderful natural and built heritage that exists not far from the hustle and bustle of a major modern built-up city. There will be opportunities to tour local historical sites and beautiful rural landscapes\, to enjoy a group picnic and to have a light lunch on route.\nPlease note that participants should wear suitable clothing\, and bring water and a puncture repair kit.

DESCRIPTION:Please note: this event is only open to Youth cyclists with Cycling Ireland membership.\nRoad Cycling is the most widespread form of cycling. More people are taking to the roads on bikes than ever before\, be it for leisure reasons\, competition\, or commuting\, the benefits of cycling are endless. Carlow RCC plan to host a 2-stage youth race open boys and girls from across the country. This will be open to the following age categories: under 12\, under 14 and under 16 youths. \nTraditional road racing is the most popular form of cycling in Ireland and is held on public roads where the first past the line wins after a mass start. Stage 1 of the event will be held near MSD\, Carlow. Marshalls and support from An Garda Siochana will support the safe running of the event. \nThe time trial will form stage 2 of the event where riders race solely against the clock as they ride individually over a set distance\, with the aim of completing the course in the shortest amount of time.

Bring your bike and meet at Bundoran Community Centre\, Marc Geagan Suite (around the back!). After a quick intro and safety check we will cycle to the new Cycleway and on to Finner Camp… and a little further. Water break and refreshments will be at Finner before returning to Bundoran Community Centre.\nChildren must be accompanied by an adult and don’t forget your cycling helmets!

DESCRIPTION:We as a group are travelling to Downings for a fully guided 2 – 2.5 hour tour of Island Roy and around the Atlantic Drive\, led by Joe Boyle\, proprietor of E-bikes\, Downings. The company will supply hi viz vests and appropriate helmets ensuring safety for our participants\, many of whom may not have experienced cycling for some considerable time. \nThis outing will be an environmentally friendly and healthy way to explore the beautiful scenery Rosguill Penninsul along the Wild Atlantic Way by the Shed Members and friends. As an organisation\, we are keen for our members of all ages to enjoy outdoor activities\, as well as appreciating all that is already on offer right on our doorsteps. Lunch will be provided at the Downings Bay Hotel afterwards.
