SUMMARY:Mountain Bike Coaching - Women's Beginners (Afternoon Session)
DESCRIPTION:Bike Week 2026 at Glencullen Adventure Park will take place over two days\, Friday May 15th and Saturday May 16th\, offering free beginner mountain bike coaching sessions for men\, women\, and youths aged 12+. On Friday\, participants can join a Beginner Men’s Coaching session from 10am–1pm and a Beginner Women’s Coaching session from 2pm–5pm\, with 8 places available in each. Saturday expands with Beginner Men’s Coaching running (10am–1pm) and Women’s beginner coaching in the afternoon (2pm–5pm)\, alongside dedicated Beginner Youth (12+) sessions at the same times morning and afternoon\, each with 8 participants. In total\, 48 participants will take part across the two days. The event is fully funded through support from Cycling Ireland and DLR Active Travel\, making all sessions free and accessible\, and aims to introduce new riders to mountain biking in a supportive\, professionally coached environment.

The event will be free to take part in. All that is required is a bike and a helmet. \nThe event will involve various elements:\nSkills display by an Elite level mountain bike rider\nVarious obstacles courses that all riders can test themselves against\nRiding on a bike on a turbo trainer with a power meter to see who can get the highest power reading\nChallenge to ride on rollers – we will have an Elite track rider to demonstrate some skills on rollers \nWe will also have a qualified mechanic on hand to check bikes and indicate to riders if they need to get work done/parts replaced etc.\nThere will be various prizes on offer through the evening. \nWe will also have refreshments for all participants.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a unique and exciting Bike Week event combining cycling and outdoor rock climbing in the beautiful surroundings of Coolaney!\nThe evening will begin with a guided group cycle from Coolaney Community Park\, led by Northwest Adventure Tours. The route will take approximately 30 minutes on public roads\, so participants should be comfortable cycling in a group and sharing the road with traffic.\nThe cycle will bring us to Scalp na gCapall\, where members of Sligo Climbing Club will introduce you to outdoor rock climbing. This session will focus on roped rock climbing (top-rope climbing)\, where participants are safely secured with harnesses and ropes\, allowing you to climb natural rock faces with guidance and support from experienced climbers. No previous climbing experience is needed!\nAfter the climbing session\, the group will cycle back to Coolaney Community Park to finish.
