DESCRIPTION:Clough National School will organise a Cycle Safety & Bike Maintenance Workshop on the GAA pitch in Clough as part of Bike Week 2026. This event will run for approximately 1.5 hours.\nThe workshop will take place in a designated area of the GAA pitch\, where students will rotate through interactive stations. These will include basic bike safety checks (tyres\, brakes and chains)\, helmet fitting\, and an introduction to simple bike maintenance skills.\nStudents will also take part in a practical road safety awareness session\, where they will learn about hand signals\, safe stopping\, awareness of surroundings\, and the importance of visibility while cycling. A short supervised cycle (approximately 200-300 meters within the pitch area) will allow students to practise these skills in a safe environment.\nThis activity is aimed at all classes from 1st to 6th class\, with content adapted to suit different age groups. The goal is to build confidence\, promote safe cycling habits\, and encourage long-term participation in cycling.

The focus will be on developing basic cycling skill such as balance\, breaking\, turning and road safety awareness through fun\, structured games and obstacle courses.\nHelmets will be required\, and bikes/scooters are welcome. Teachers and volunteers will supervise all activities to ensure safety.\nThis event is primarily for students of Clough National School and will not be open to the general public.

SUMMARY:Carlow Regional Youth Services- Bike Fest 2026
DESCRIPTION:Please note: this event is only open to members of Carlow Regional Youth Services\nPop-up bike repair and maintenance workshops alongside cycling challenges & workshops will be held to promote bike safety for children and teenagers in various local parks around Carlow town and environs (venues include Carlow Town Park\, Carlow Skate Park\, Hanover Park and The Vault Youth Project). All activities will be delivered by experienced facilitators and are non-competitive in nature\, focusing on skills\, safety and bike handling rather than speed or stunts. These cycling challenges will consist of a basic obstacle course\, balance board games as well as road safety quizzes. Basic safety checks will be carried out on bikes prior to participation\, helmets will be required\, and first-aid provision will be available on site. Spot prizes such as cycling safety gear and accessories will be awarded to participants. A qualified and experienced bike repair tutor will be present at each event to deliver maintenance guidance\, demonstrate safe repair techniques\, and carry out minor repairs and safety checks on participants’ bicycles.

SUMMARY:Limerick Rolls – City Centre Street Party and Family Cycle
DESCRIPTION:As part of Bike Week Limerick\, Limerick City and County Council in partnership with Limerick Sports Partnership will host a city centre cycling celebration\, combining a street party with a group cycle designed for families and cyclists of all ages and abilities. \nThe event will take place on Davis Street\, which will serve as the central hub for the day\, with activities for children and adults.\nFrom Davis Street\, a group cycle will bring people on a 5 km loop around the city centre. The cycle will be sociable\, inclusive and suitable for all ages and abilities. \nTo support participation from across Limerick city\, guided group cycles will be organised to bring people to Davis Street from the west (Mungret Park)\, east (Castletroy Park) and north (Mayorstone Quarry) sides of the city. These rides will be led by experienced bike leaders and are intended to make it easier and more comfortable for families and less confident cyclists to join the event. \nAs the party is wrapping up\, participants will also have the option to cycle back as part of a guided group\, returning along the same routes and accompanied by experienced bike leaders. \nFor further details\, including routes and timings\, check out the main event page.

This will be followed by a relaxed community cycle led by local cycling experts from Saddle Rock Cycling Club. The beginner-friendly 25km route is designed for adults and casual cyclists\, focusing on building confidence and enjoyment on the road. \nAfter the cycle\, participants will return to Barrack Hill for healthy refreshments and informal socialising. Carndonagh Cycle will run a fun and engaging bike obstacle course for children\, helping them develop cycling skills in a safe and supportive environment. A drop-in bike care clinic will also run throughout the event\, offering practical guidance for teenagers and adults on basic bike maintenance\, including puncture repairs and brake checks.
