DESCRIPTION:Please note: this event is only open to members of Carlow Regional Youth Services\nPop-up bike repair and maintenance workshops alongside cycling challenges & workshops will be held to promote bike safety for children and teenagers in various local parks around Carlow town and environs (venues include Carlow Town Park\, Carlow Skate Park\, Hanover Park and The Vault Youth Project). All activities will be delivered by experienced facilitators and are non-competitive in nature\, focusing on skills\, safety and bike handling rather than speed or stunts. These cycling challenges will consist of a basic obstacle course\, balance board games as well as road safety quizzes. Basic safety checks will be carried out on bikes prior to participation\, helmets will be required\, and first-aid provision will be available on site. Spot prizes such as cycling safety gear and accessories will be awarded to participants. A qualified and experienced bike repair tutor will be present at each event to deliver maintenance guidance\, demonstrate safe repair techniques\, and carry out minor repairs and safety checks on participants’ bicycles.

Did you know there are over 115 km of cycle lanes across Limerick?\nThis is a relaxed and inclusive group ride\, led by experienced bike leaders and using cycle lanes as much as possible. The route is flat and loop based\, with short loops of up to 5 km\, allowing participants to choose how much they cycle. DESCRIPTION:Get to Know Your Cycle Lanes \nAs part of Bike Week Limerick\, join the Castletroy Cruise\, a guided group cycle designed to help people get to know the cycle lanes and local routes in the Castletroy area\, and how they connect into the wider city network. Did you know there are over 115 km of cycle lanes across Limerick?\nThis is a relaxed and inclusive group ride\, led by experienced bike leaders and using cycle lanes as much as possible. The route is flat and loop based\, with short loops of up to 5km\, giving participants the choice to cycle as much or as little as they like. If you’re comfortable completing all of the loops\, the full distance is up to 16km.\nThe Castletroy Cruise is suitable for all ages and abilities and is about building confidence for everyday cycling.\nChildren must be accompanied by an adult. \nMeeting point: Castletroy Park\nStart and finish: Castletroy Park\nDuration: Approx. 2 hours

DESCRIPTION:Panel discussion\nThis Bike Week panel will explore what needs to be in place for cycling as a realistic\, everyday option for getting around – to work\, school\, library\, shop\, training\, dancing or music lessons. \nFramed under the Safe Routes for All umbrella\, the discussion will look beyond infrastructure to consider other conditions that influence decisions on everyday cycling\, such as confidence\, accessibility\, behaviour\, social norms and lived experience. The event will explore real‑world barriers and enablers by bringing together young cycling ambassadors\, community voices and University of Limerick researchers. \nThe conversation will begin with a focus on lived experiences\, before researchers reflect on the themes raised\, drawing on evidence from transport\, health\, behaviour and environmental research. A moderated discussion will bring these perspectives together\, with time for audience questions. \nThis event is suitable for anyone interested in everyday cycling\, including students and families\, community groups\, researchers and members of the public.
