DESCRIPTION:The Bike Check & E Bike Experience Day is a hands on\, inclusive event designed to promote confidence\, safety and enjoyment in cycling.\nDelivered by qualified instructors from the Bicycle Engineering Academy\, the event includes two main elements:\n– a basic bike inspection (M-check) workshop and\n– a supervised e-bike experience. \nParticipants attend at staggered time slots to ensure smooth flow and appropriate supervision. On arrival\, each participant will receive a short introduction and safety overview before taking part in a guided M-check of their own bicycle. This session focuses on key safety components such as tyres\, brakes\, chain and overall bike condition\, and is delivered in a clear\, step by step way\, with opportunities to ask questions and carry out checks under supervision. \nParticipants then have the opportunity to try an e-bike in a controlled environment. This includes a short induction explaining the controls\, safe operation and key differences from a standard bicycle\, followed by a supervised test ride in a designated safe area. \nAll activities are delivered with a strong emphasis on safety\, accessibility and inclusivity. The event is suitable for a wide range of participants\, including beginners\, families and those new to cycling or e-bikes\, and aims to build confidence\, reduce barriers to cycling and provide an enjoyable and informative experience. \nBooking required – Booking in advance helps us make sure the right supports and equipment are available.\n(To book follow the event link for further details.)

This level focuses on improving balance and pedalling skills.\nImprover / Advanced (8 to 12 years) – For children who can start and stop independently and cycle in a straight line but need to improve their braking and cornering skills.\nChildren should bring their own bikes to get comfortable handling them\, but bikes are available if needed—these must be booked when registering. Please ensure that bike brakes are working properly\, and all children must wear a helmet for the entire session.

DESCRIPTION:Ballyhoura is celebrating Bike Week 2026 with a fun-filled weekend of mountain biking adventures\, skills sessions\, and family-friendly rides.\nBallyhoura CLG & Cycling Ireland are delighted to offer a host of different sessions across two days. \nBallyhoura Bike Week\nSaturday 9th May\nDrop-In Skills Area\n11:00am – 4:00pm\nNo booking required. \nCome and give mountain biking a go in our drop-in skills area. This supervised area will include flat-ground skills practice along with features such as ramps and an MTB Hopper to let riders try some fun skills in a controlled environment. Just bring your bike and join in at any stage during the day. \nTry MTB – Teens and Adults \nThese beginner-friendly sessions are ideal for anyone looking to try mountain biking for the first time. Each session will include bike set-up\, helmet checks\, and an introduction to basic skills such as braking\, gears\, and trail awareness\, followed by a ride on the green loop. \nSession Times: \n11:00am – 12:30pm\n1:00pm – 2:30pm\n2:30pm – 4:00pm\nPre-booking is strongly advised. If spaces remain\, limited on-the-day sign-up may be available. \nIntermediate Mountain Biking\nOwn bike required\nThese sessions are aimed at riders with some off-road experience who want to build confidence and develop their skills further. Groups will head out on the blue trail and descend selected red sections. \nSession Times: \n10:30am – 12:30pm\n1:00pm – 3:00pm\nPre-booking is strongly advised. If spaces remain\, limited on-the-day sign-up may be available. \nAdvanced Skills Sessions\nOwn bike essential\nThese focused sessions are for more experienced riders who want to work on specific technical skills. \nSession Options: \nTabletops / Introduction to Jumps — 10:30am – 12:00pm\nPump and Flow — 12:30pm – 2:00pm\nTechnical / Fast Cornering — 2:30pm – 4:00pm\nAdvance booking required. \nSunday 10th May\nGuided group rides will run with four staff in total\, with one leader at the front and one at the back of each group. \nGroup Ride – Blue Loop\n10:00am – 11:30am\nA relaxed group ride on the blue loop.
