DESCRIPTION:This event will be held on Durrow cycling trail at Capponellan\, Local schools are invited to attend an outdoor event where they will be addressed about road safety and bicycle safety by Gardai and RSA personnel. Afterwards a cycle along the trail for the children will take place. This is supervised by Pedal Vintage cyclists and teachers. The event will conclude with refreshments and an outdoor schools concert of Irish songs we learned at school. (Weather permitting)\nTime to be decided.

DESCRIPTION:The Bike Check & E Bike Experience Day is a hands on\, inclusive event designed to promote confidence\, safety and enjoyment in cycling.\nDelivered by qualified instructors from the Bicycle Engineering Academy\, the event includes two main elements:\n– a basic bike inspection (M-check) workshop and\n– a supervised e-bike experience. \nParticipants attend at staggered time slots to ensure smooth flow and appropriate supervision. On arrival\, each participant will receive a short introduction and safety overview before taking part in a guided M-check of their own bicycle. This session focuses on key safety components such as tyres\, brakes\, chain and overall bike condition\, and is delivered in a clear\, step by step way\, with opportunities to ask questions and carry out checks under supervision. \nParticipants then have the opportunity to try an e-bike in a controlled environment. This includes a short induction explaining the controls\, safe operation and key differences from a standard bicycle\, followed by a supervised test ride in a designated safe area. \nAll activities are delivered with a strong emphasis on safety\, accessibility and inclusivity. The event is suitable for a wide range of participants\, including beginners\, families and those new to cycling or e-bikes\, and aims to build confidence\, reduce barriers to cycling and provide an enjoyable and informative experience. \nBooking required – Booking in advance helps us make sure the right supports and equipment are available.\n(To book follow the event link for further details.)

DESCRIPTION:“We will hold a Bike Day in our 3rd term.\nOn this day\, children are encouraged to cycle to school in so far as is possible. Children from 3rd up to 6th class go on a school cycle on a local route. Teachers and parents guide the children on this cycle. We will also have a garda car to accompany the cycle. Children stop at a half way mark for refreshments.\nChildren from Infants up to 2nd class will participate in bike day on the school grounds. Circuits will be set out on our school grounds on different yards. The children will get to experience the different circuits on different yards. Children and parents that help out on the day will get treats and refreshments.\nStart Point Kilmihil N.S. Local 8 km route in the area – out Cahercanivan road and back by Lorigan’s bridge.\nReturn point – School
