DESCRIPTION:Clough National School will organise a Cycle Safety & Bike Maintenance Workshop on the GAA pitch in Clough as part of Bike Week 2026. This event will run for approximately 1.5 hours.\nThe workshop will take place in a designated area of the GAA pitch\, where students will rotate through interactive stations. These will include basic bike safety checks (tyres\, brakes and chains)\, helmet fitting\, and an introduction to simple bike maintenance skills.\nStudents will also take part in a practical road safety awareness session\, where they will learn about hand signals\, safe stopping\, awareness of surroundings\, and the importance of visibility while cycling. A short supervised cycle (approximately 200-300 meters within the pitch area) will allow students to practise these skills in a safe environment.\nThis activity is aimed at all classes from 1st to 6th class\, with content adapted to suit different age groups. DESCRIPTION:The Bike Check & E Bike Experience Day is a hands on\, inclusive event designed to promote confidence\, safety and enjoyment in cycling.\nDelivered by qualified instructors from the Bicycle Engineering Academy\, the event includes two main elements:\n– a basic bike inspection (M-check) workshop and\n– a supervised e-bike experience. \nParticipants attend at staggered time slots to ensure smooth flow and appropriate supervision. On arrival\, each participant will receive a short introduction and safety overview before taking part in a guided M-check of their own bicycle. This session focuses on key safety components such as tyres\, brakes\, chain and overall bike condition\, and is delivered in a clear\, step by step way\, with opportunities to ask questions and carry out checks under supervision. \nParticipants then have the opportunity to try an e-bike in a controlled environment. This includes a short induction explaining the controls\, safe operation and key differences from a standard bicycle\, followed by a supervised test ride in a designated safe area. \nAll activities are delivered with a strong emphasis on safety\, accessibility and inclusivity. As part of their visit to e-Bikes Downings they will get a full demonstration of how the e-Bikes business operates. As part of the trip they will go out on the e-bikes to try an encourage students to cycle more at home\, to/from school and socially with their friends as part of their daily exercise. \nAll aspects of the road safety\, promoting the e-bikes and engaging in the whole dynamic of using e-bikes as part of their lives will be explored on their trip around the Atlantic Drive.

DESCRIPTION:Over three weeks\, Carrick Wheelers will run an hour-long Beginners Skills League for kids\, focused on fun\, confidence and bike handling. The sessions will cater for all abilities\, with groups divided based on prior skill level. Some participants will work on basic skills such as turning\, balance and riding over small bumps\, while more confident riders will practice tighter turns and correct stopping techniques. Each session will finish with a variety of fun games\, including running to the bike and racing to a point\, as well as slow and fast races\, ensuring an enjoyable and active experience for everyone involved.
