SUMMARY:Leitrim Cycling Festival
DESCRIPTION:Our 10th Leitrim Cycling Festival will be taking place in the lovely village of Cloone\, Co. Leitrim on the weekend of May 8th\, 9th and 10th. This festival is a fantastic way to promote cycling in Leitrim and rural areas\, to encourage people of all cycling abilities to take part\, to showcase all that Cloone and Leitrim has to offer in terms of its beautiful scenery\, active and talented residents\, opportunities for connection and future collaboration and to celebrate communities. The weekend of activities will be co-designed\, co-organised and co-delivered with the Cloone Community Centre group. All events are free and everyone is welcome whether they attend one event or all events. This supervised area will include flat-ground skills practice along with features such as ramps and an MTB Hopper to let riders try some fun skills in a controlled environment. Just bring your bike and join in at any stage during the day. \nTry MTB – Teens and Adults \nThese beginner-friendly sessions are ideal for anyone looking to try mountain biking for the first time. Each session will include bike set-up\, helmet checks\, and an introduction to basic skills such as braking\, gears\, and trail awareness\, followed by a ride on the green loop. \nSession Times: \n11:00am – 12:30pm\n1:00pm – 2:30pm\n2:30pm – 4:00pm\nPre-booking is strongly advised. If spaces remain\, limited on-the-day sign-up may be available. \nIntermediate Mountain Biking\nOwn bike required\nThese sessions are aimed at riders with some off-road experience who want to build confidence and develop their skills further. Groups will head out on the blue trail and descend selected red sections. \nSession Times: \n10:30am – 12:30pm\n1:00pm – 3:00pm\nPre-booking is strongly advised. If spaces remain\, limited on-the-day sign-up may be available. \nAdvanced Skills Sessions\nOwn bike essential\nThese focused sessions are for more experienced riders who want to work on specific technical skills. \nSession Options: \nTabletops / Introduction to Jumps — 10:30am – 12:00pm\nPump and Flow — 12:30pm – 2:00pm\nTechnical / Fast Cornering — 2:30pm – 4:00pm\nAdvance booking required. \nSunday 10th May\nGuided group rides will run with four staff in total\, with one leader at the front and one at the back of each group. \nGroup Ride – Blue Loop\n10:00am – 11:30am\nA relaxed group ride on the blue loop.
