SUMMARY:4th Carlow Cycling Camp 2026
DESCRIPTION:Please note: this event is only open to members of the 4th Carlow Scouts.\nThis cycle camp will have Beavers\, Cubs and Scouts cycling from Bagenalstown to Leighlinbridge along the Barrow Way cycle track on Saturday 9th of May 2026. Following some light refreshments\, the entire scout group will cycle back to Bagenalstown where we will be catering for the group (Approximately 50-80) at the den in Bagenalstown. There will also be demonstrations on bike safety and repair from local cycling experts/athletes Following this the Cubs and Scouts will set up camp and will camp overnight in tents. On Sunday morning the Cubs and Scouts will go for a short cycle before breaking camp and going home.

DESCRIPTION:‘Slí na gCaisleán’ (‘The Way of the Castles’) represents a guided ‘Off the Beaten Track’ heritage cycle tour along a 40km looped trail that encompasses seven castles on the north and eastern side of Galway city and into Galway county. The tour will start at the Plots on the Dyke Road and continue to the vicinity of castles at Terryland\, Menlo\, Cloonacauneen\, Killeen\, Ballybrit\, Castlegar and Ballindooley.\nThis leisurely cycle will journey over hills\, along botharins\, past abandoned farms\, ruined castles\, karst outcrops\, bogs\, lakes\, dykes\, turloughs and meadows.\nThe tour will introduce participants to the wonderful natural and built heritage that exists not far from the hustle and bustle of a major modern built-up city. There will be opportunities to tour local historical sites and beautiful rural landscapes\, to enjoy a group picnic and to have a light lunch on route.\nPlease note that participants should wear suitable clothing\, and bring water and a puncture repair kit.

DESCRIPTION:1st Port of Sea Scouts are proud to be part of Bike Week 2026 where our group will travel along a 40km looped cycle trail taking in the 7 Castles of Galway. \nWe will have youth from each of our 5 sections: Beavers (6-8yrs)\, Cubs (9-11yrs)\, Scouts (12-14yrs)\, Ventures (15-17yrs)\, Rovers (18yr+) alongside our dedicated leaders. \nThis is a gentle cycle to allow everyone take in Galway’s natural beauty on our doorstep\, we will have a break at each castle where we will talk a little on the history of the castle. \nAt the end of the event we will have a celebratory BBQ at our base in Deadman’s Beach. \nScouting Ireland has strict Garda Vetting & Safeguarding protocols\, therefore our event is limited to Scouting youth and their families.
