Bike to School for Bike Week in Kiltormer Community for Bike Week
To encourage children to cycle safely from their homes to visit friends, clubs and school. To make the most of the Greenway which is close by our school.
During Bike Week, club volunteers will visit local schools for fun, hands-on cycling sessions. Teens at The Comp in Glenties will learn basic bike maintenance, while younger children at national schools will practice cycling skills in the playground

Active Schools Week is suitable for all age groups and it is suitable for all levels of cycling. This is a group cycle that will promote community engagement and education about cycling. This will take place at Turlough XL Shop at F23 DK81
Grassroutes Bike Hire will run eight inclusive cycling classes during Bike Week 2025 for students from Little Angels and St Bernadette’s schools. Sessions include bike fitting, safety checks, and adapted cycling skills, promoting confidence, physical activity, and independence. All equipment is provided, making cycling accessible and enjoyable for all abilities.
Range of Events for Bike Week at Lawrencetown National School Galway
Royal Canal Greenway School Cycles are designed to encourage greater bike usage amongst secondary school students in a safe manner. These cycles also seek to promote the Royal Canal Greenway as an ideal cycling venue for participants.

Lifford NS plans to meet at the start of the cycle way at the town limit, encouraging parents to drop their children off there and join the walk or cycle to school. Children will cycle or scoot along the footpath to school. On arrival, parents will be offered refreshments, each class teacher will distribute a bell or reflector set to the children, and a road safety lesson will be delivered in class. This initiative promotes active travel, builds awareness of safe cycling habits, and encourages greater community involvement in the journey to school.
The Cycle Bus is to encourage pupils in local schools to cycle to school. The event for Bike Week will encourage maintenance of own bikes and safety awareness. reaching out to families will encourage families to cycle outside of school also and promote the social and health benefits of cycling. Two other local schools and the gardai will particiapate in thes event also so it reaches out into the wider community to get involved.
Inver NS is holding a special event to help children understand road safety while cycling. A local instructor will be invited to deliver a practical session on safe cycling. Pupils will also take part in a short cycle around the local area. An in-school art competition will promote creativity around the theme of bike safety, and relevant safety information will be shared with all students to reinforce key messages. This event aims to build cycling confidence, encourage safe habits, and celebrate Bike Week through both fun and educational activities.
