Join us for a fun-filled BMX "Come and Try" event where riders of all ages and skill levels can experience the thrill of BMX riding! Whether you're a beginner or just curious, come along, meet local riders, and give it a go in a safe and friendly environment. Bikes and helmets available just bring your enthusiasm!
Scoil Íde have the following events planned: *Time trials with the senior classes *A bike scavenger hunt. *scoot/cycle to school that week (have a score on the door- homework pass for the class with the most participants)
Weeklong cycle to school promotion along with some prize giving and small cycles.
The Green School Committee will present a PowerPoint on bike safety. In addition, the committee will track the number of children cycling or scooting to school each day, with the class that logs the most participants winning a special cycling trophy. "Design a Helmet" competition - Three winners will be chosen, one from the junior classes, one from the middle classes and one from the senior classes.
Art competition in the classrooms creating safety slogans for cycling/bike week.
Bike maintenance workshop, Bling your bike competition, cycle to school competition.
Cycle to school with prizes for participation, a bike skills workshop, maintenance workshops, safety skills sessions and a community bike ride.
Transition Year students will be encouraged to bring their bike to school and participate in a historical ‘Castles Tour’ going from Coláiste Iognáid to Terryland Castle to Menlo Castle.

As part of Bike week, the annual City centre cycle is a popular event that involves local schools accompanied by volunteers and teachers cycle through the streets of Galway for 3.5km.

Pupils, parents and staff encouraged to cycle to school Design a bike activity for all pupils - PowerPoint/ poster/ Lego/ model. Design a bike week promotional poster for all pupils.
Fun and energetic cycling disco, where students can enjoy music while showcasing their biking skills.
Older classes will be accompanied by the local community officer and his team, with teachers on their bicycles for a cycle around Menlo.
Younger classes will cycle around the playground through an obstacle course style created with the use of cones and skipping ropes.
A leisurely Cycle, opportunities to tour local historical sites and beautiful rural landscapes, to enjoy a group picnic and to have a light lunch on route.
