This event will provide participants with essential bike knowledge and hands-on experience. The session will include, Basic bike maintenance, Bike handling and safety tips, A guided bike ride to a mystery location in Leitrim, A coffee stop for a social chat before returning to base.
Children from Fenagh NS will be encouraged to cycle and record the amount of time they cycle each day during the Bike week event starting Saturday 10th until Sunday 18th May 2024.
Moran’s bike shop will attend Gorvagh Community Centre and repair and check children’s bikes from the area (Check breaks, gears, tyres etc ) and adjust and replace as required. There will be a talk on road safety and good bike use.
Preschool children will learn about bike road safety; the importance of putting on a helmet, hi vis, and talk about the rules of the road and general safety.
The Teenage Youth Group will cycle the Blueway from Leitrim Village to Drumshanbo and back, collecting rubbish on route.
Drumshanbo Vocational School Transition Year Students will go on a cycle on the Blue Way around Drumshanbo.
Junior Infants to Second Class in St. Josephs NS will develop individual cycling skills, in the safe environment of the school grounds.
Cycle to school for Bike week 2025 promoting safe cycling. Daily Safe cycling bus with parents association and guardians. A Safe cycle training workshop and fun mini events including decorate your bike helmet.

Scoil Chlann Naofa will participate in a cycle. The children from 3rd – 6th classes along with teachers, parents and volunteers will cycle 6km, from the school, through the town and out the golf links road.
Leitrim Community Training Centre will take part in a guided cycle along the Blueway from Leitrim Village to Drumshanbo, identifying pollinator plants along the way.
The Hive Youth Club Bornacoola and their families will go on a 7km cycle.
Families will bring either their bikes or balance bikes and the children will learn the safety of cycling outside, stopping on demand, slowly stopping, safe crossing road etc. There will be a talk around safe use of bikes and also stranger awareness when out cycling.
Balance Bike event with a Local Sports Partnership Tutor for Pre-schooler's.
Dr Bike will check over your bikes for safety and provide the tools for you to fix your own bike. Learn how to repair punctures and clean your bike – ready for a summer of bike riding.
