Dublin Area

The TFI 90 Minute Fare applies to most journeys in the Dublin area, whether you’re making a single journey or transferring between services.

Eligible services include:

  • Dublin Bus (excluding Express and Nitelink services)
  • Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin City Bus
  • TFI Luas Red & Green lines
  • DART & Commuter Rail within Zone 1.

Express and Nitelink fares are €2.40 for Adults and €1.20 for Students and Young Adults.

How to use the TFI 90 Minute Fare

  1. Tap on with your Leap Card to start your 90 minute period.
  2. Tap on before each bus journey.
  3. In Dublin, tap on and tap off for DART, commuter rail and TFI Luas journeys.
  4. Check your remaining time using the Leap Top Up App.

The TFI 90 Minute Fare is deducted at the start of your first journey. Any additional eligible journeys taken within 90 minutes are included, provided you tap your TFI Leap Card for each journey.

The fare is not available on rail services and does not apply on the following bus routes:

If you travel on any of these services, the journey will not be included as part of your TFI 90 Minute Fare entitlement.

No. If travelling in Cork City using a 24 hour, weekly, monthly or annual ticket on your Leap Card you must go to the driver to validate your ticket.

If paying for more than one person in Cork City, use the driver’s Validator. The TFI 90-minute fare or Leap Capping will not apply.

  • If using Leap travel credit, Free travel pass, or Child 5-8, use the new Validator on the right-hand side as you enter the bus.
  • If using a Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Annual ticket, or paying with cash, use the driver’s Validator.
  • If paying for more than one person with a Leap Card, use the driver’s Validator. The TFI 90-minute fare or Leap Capping will not apply.

The Dublin TFI 90 Minute Fare applies to eligible services within Dublin Zone 1.

If your Dublin City Bus journey crosses into Zone 2, the TFI 90 Minute Fare and fare caps still apply on the following routes:

  • L3
  • X1
  • X2

Important

Dublin commuter bus services operated by:

  • Bus Éireann
  • Go-Ahead Ireland commuter services

are not eligible for the TFI 90 Minute Fare or fare capping.

The Short Fare applies to single journeys of approximately 2 to 3 kilometres.

Variations may occur because of:

  • stop locations relative to fare boundaries
  • routes using different streets depending on direction of travel
  • the need for consistent fare application across the network

  • ensure your journey is valid
  • receive the correct fare calculation

If you start a TFI Luas journey using a TFI Leap Card and do not tap off, you will be charged the maximum fare, which is the TFI 90 Minute Fare.

If you travel by DART or Commuter Rail from Zones 2, 3 or 4 and tap on again in Zone 1 within 90 minutes of your first tap on, your onward travel within Zone 1 is included under the TFI 90 Minute Fare.
