To encourage as many of our school community to cycle more often where possible Children from 3rd - 6th class will cycle approx 5km along the N4 and onto Loughlinstown Lane. Children from Junior Infants - 2nd class will cycle around a track in the school playground made by teachers in the school. #BikeWeekWestmeath
To introduce pupils who have never had the opportunity because of their disability to ride a bike. Through hiring specialist bikes such as trikes, cargo bikes, tandems pupils will have an opportunity to participate in a treasure hunt around our new school grounds. #BikeWeekWestmeath
Foster confidence in our preschool children using their bikes in the recreational spaces of their native Kibeggan, where we already go on regular walks to the park, but don't have enough bikes to practice regularly. Mini race with all 35 enrolled children, 60% of whom have additional or different educational needs. #BikeWeekWestmeath
To encourage pupils to cycle in a safe manner, while improving their cycling skills. Events will take place on the grounds of our school. Events will include a cycling obstacle course, a slow cycle race and a talk on Cycle Safety and bicycle repair. #BikeWeekWestmeath
To encourage more pupils who live within 3km radius to cycle to school We will start at the railway track on the greenway in Moate. Class will cycle to Garrycastle in different pace groups, supported by class teachers. #BikeWeekWestmeath
