Clough NS Cycle Safety & Bike Maintenance Workshop
Clough National School will organise a Cycle Safety & Bike Maintenance Workshop on the GAA pitch in Clough as part of Bike Week 2026. This event will run for approximately 1.5 hours.
The workshop will take place in a designated area of the GAA pitch, where students will rotate through interactive stations. These will include basic bike safety checks (tyres, brakes and chains), helmet fitting, and an introduction to simple bike maintenance skills.
Students will also take part in a practical road safety awareness session, where they will learn about hand signals, safe stopping, awareness of surroundings, and the importance of visibility while cycling. A short supervised cycle (approximately 200-300 meters within the pitch area) will allow students to practise these skills in a safe environment.
This activity is aimed at all classes from 1st to 6th class, with content adapted to suit different age groups. The goal is to build confidence, promote safe cycling habits, and encourage long-term participation in cycling.
