Drishane Castle, Womens’ Cycle

This proposal is for a half day cycle around Killarney National Park or a similar greenway area for a group of migrant women, currently living in an accommodation centre in Drishane Castle in Millstreet, Cork. The group have their own bikes but do not have access to transport.

In April/May 2026, Wild Atlantic Sports will run a 5 week cycling programme on behalf of Cork Sports Partnership with the women, to include cycle skills, road safety, bike maintenance and local road cycles. The final week of this programme is on Bike Week and the proposed cycle would be a super finish and celebration of their progress!

The Bike Week funding would support a trip to a local safe cycling and include bus hire for the group, transport of the groups’ bikes to the cycle destination, drinks & refreshments for the group and cover instructor/guide expenses.
