Saturday -Saturday 14th – 21st May Willowbrook Residents Association – To promote community spirit (harmony)
within the street while promoting greenways and cycle tracks along the
canal. Promoting the benefits of cycling vis a vie healthy living. Tree
planting in Willowbrook. Building relationships with the local Gardaí by
inviting their community Gardaí  to talk to our children about safety
on the road, and to join us on a cycle. Promote heritage by planting a
tree at the Children’s Cholera Graveyard along the canal line. Our
bike week will conclude with a Residents Tea Party on Sat afternoon 21 May.

Saturday -Sunday 14th – 22nd May Week Long cycling events to take place at St. Brigid’s School.
Student and Staff Group Cycling on the Greenway in partnership with
local community Gardaí. Safety Talk. Cycling Obstacle course on
school grounds. Staff Cycle to School. Bike themed arts and crafts.
Staff Cycle for your breakfast on Exercise Bikes. Introduction to
tricycles, scooters, balance bikes to foster and promote further and
maximum inclusion of all members of the school community in cycling
activities.
School hours Students, staff, local Gardaí and families related to the school community School grounds and Greenway for group cycle
Saturday-Sunday 14th – 22nd May Lakeside Wheelers – Donate a bike scheme. Providing free, used
bikes to refugee centres or other organisations that could use them.
Bikes will be donated and fixed up to a standard whereby they can be
donated an used.
Ongoing during the week Anyone can donate a bike. Upgraded bikes will be specifically
distributes to those who need them the most

Saturday-Sunday 14th – 22nd May Raharney Bike Ride – providing the community, particularly the
children with the opportunity to cycle. Will also include Cycle to School
week with St Mary’s School.

Saturday-Sunday 14th – 22nd May Emper National School Bike Week – Emper N.S. community and school
will celebrate with a variety of school and community based activities;
COW Day-“Cycle on Wednesday” with a Garda escort from the school to &
from Kelly’s Bridge (Rathcaled) and senior pupils cycling on our National
Royal Canal Greenwaythis year from Rathcaled to Coolnahay, “Design a
Helmet” competition with generous prizes for all pupils, a “Build Your
Bike” workshop with John Fitzgerald from Ballymahon Greenway Cycles.
Local Gardaí will give a Road Safety Talk and safely escorting us on the
busy R393 to Kelly’s Bridge.
Daily Pupils and teachers Emper National School.
Saturday 14th May  Ballinahown Development Association – Bike Repair Workshop –
people can take bikes not in perfect working condition. These bikes can
be retained post repair or donated. We propose donating bikes (especially
for children) to families recently arrived from the Ukraine in our local
community. We plan to purchase a number of bike racks for the Village.

Sunday 15th and/or 22nd May Lakeside Wheelers – Cycling for beginners -introducing
people who perhaps have not cycled in a long time back to the pastime/sport
of cycling. Setting up of a beginners group lead by experienced group
leaders taking a beginners group out on safe areas on which to cycle
such as the Greenway

Sunday 15th May Caman for fun Cycle – Ringtown Camogie Club host a 5km cycle
from the club to promote themselves and their ‘healthy body, healthy
mind’ initiative.

Monday – Friday 16th – 20th May Cycle to School/Poste Competition/Gardaí talk at
Scoil Chroi Naofa

Monday-Friday 16th – 20th May Cycle maintenance workshop and safety talk at Columba College,
Killucan. Talks, visit from the Community Guards, Bike Maintenance Workshops
with Guest Speaker from Local Bike Shop.

Monday-Friday 16th – 20th May Bike to School – St Colman’s National School All week, particularly COW Children, Families, Teachers St Colman’s school and surrounding area
Monday-Friday 16th – 20th May Gaelscoil an Choilliin –  Cycle to school event – We want to get
more of our school community cycling to school every morning.
Every school morning all pupils, parents, staff Gaelscoil an Choillín and surrounds
Wednesday 18th May Cycle on Wednesday – St Mary’s National School Rathowen. Cycle on
Wednesday and a cycle maze constructed in the school yard for pupils.

Wednesday 18th May Cycle on Wednesday – Coralstown National School – event is to encourage the
children to cycle safely to school. Children will wear high viz jackets
and road safety will be emphasised

Wednesday 18th May TY go Greenway – Our Lady Bower School introducing TY students
to cycle on the Greenway.
11am TY pupils, parents, teachers Athlone Greenway from Athlone to Moate
Wednesday 18th May Dalystown National School Cycle Week – Children who live within
2 kilometres  are asked to cycle to school. Children can bring their bikes
to school and cycle activities will be organised for each class on the school
yard during the day
9.30am Children and teachers , SNA. Secretary of Dalystown NS and some parents School grounds
Thursday-Friday 19th – 20th May St Tola’s N.S – Tour de Tola’s and bike education day. Aim to get
children and families out on their bikes on a series of rides, recording
distances and taking photos to upload onto their online educational journey.
Total KM’s will be recorded

Saturday 21st May Meet and Spin Cycle, Esker Cycling and Touring Club. Aim is to encourage
people who have taken up cycling during pandemic to join a club. Beginning
with a safety talk and then followed by a group cycle. Coffee break to mix
and mingle and make new friends!
10am Anyone over 18 Meet at Carroll’s Car Garage, Dublin Road, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath
Saturday 21st May Lakeside Wheelers – Tandem bike rides for visually impaired.
Giving people with visual impairments the opportunity to cycle with an experienced ‘pilot’
10am Visually impaired children and adults Greenway car park
Sunday 22nd May Longford, Westmeath Down Syndrome Cycle of 1 to 10km depending on ability on Greenway 11am Children, Adults, Families Greenway, Mullingar
