NTA and Transport for Ireland welcomes Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Ireland takes on this responsibility for the eighth time from 1 July to 31 December 2026. It is at a significant moment for Europe and the wider international community.

Traffic diversions and transport delays:

• Traffic diversions and public transport delays may be experienced in event locations, venues and at Dublin, Cork Shannon and regional airports as Ministers and heads of State travel to and from Ireland for Meetings.

• September and October 2026
  • EU Events, meetings and plenary sessions are planned for Dublin, Limerick, Wicklow, Carlow, Cork, Kilkenny, Meath, Westmeath, Monaghan, Galway, Offaly
  • A number of traffic restrictions are in place to make way for meetings that are happening in and near Dublin Castle as part of Ireland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union.

• In Dublin, formal and informal EU Presidency events may be concentrated at Dublin Castle, the Chancery Hotel, Radisson Blu Royal Hotel and Trinity College Dublin.
  • There may also be intermittent, localised temporary traffic restrictions and rolling road closures between the south city centre and Trinity College and Dublin Castle.
