Over 26,500 JAM Cards and apps now in use nationwide as initiative continues to break barriers for passengers with hidden disabilities
Today the National Transport Authority (NTA), in partnership with NOW Group, has launched its JAM Campaign for 2025.
The JAM Card, which stands for “Just A Minute”, allows passengers with a learning difficulty, autism, or a communication barrier to discreetly indicate that they may need a little extra time or understanding in public or social situations.
The JAM Card is accepted across Bus Éireann, Dublin Bus, Go-Ahead Ireland, Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail), LUAS, and TFI Local Link services nationwide.
Passengers can either show their physical JAM Card or use the JAM Card App, available for free on Android and iOS.
Since its introduction, the initiative has seen remarkable growth. To date, over 26,500 cards and apps have been issued across Ireland, reflecting the continued success of NTA’s commitment to making public transport inclusive and accessible to all.
Speaking ahead of the campaign launch, Naomi Rooney, Transport Accessibility Manager at the NTA, said:
“The JAM Card continues to make a real difference for thousands of passengers who may find travelling a challenge. We’re proud to see how this initiative continues to help people to travel independently and confidently. Public transport is for everyone, and the JAM Card plays a key role in ensuring that this message is lived out every day across the TFI Public Transport Network.”
Maeve Monaghan, CEO of NOW Group adds,
“We are thrilled that the NTA are continuing to support the JAM Card initiative across the transport network in Ireland. Making it easier for JAM Card users to travel on public transport makes a big impact to the lives of those with hidden disabilities. We are incredibly thankful for the NTA recognising the importance of one of the leading accessibility and inclusion tools for its service users.”
The 2025 campaign encourages more passengers to learn about the JAM Card and support those using it, with a simple message: “A Just A Minute moment can make a big difference.”
