The National Transport Authority (NTA) is excited to announce the launch of Bike Week 2026, taking place from Saturday, 09 May to Sunday, 17 May. This annual event celebrates the many benefits of cycling with hundreds of events scheduled nationwide. From family-friendly activities to adaptive bike workshops, bike repair lessons, and learn-to-cycle events, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
All 31 local authority areas are participating in Bike Week, with events organised in collaboration with local sports partnerships.
National Transport Authority CEO, Anne Shaw, emphasises the importance of the week saying:
“The engagement from the local authorities and local sports partnerships has once again been fantastic this year. It’s great to see so many events taking place all around the country.”
“There really is something for everyone, from the popular family bike festivals and community cycles to local heritage and greenway cycles to school’s events. I’d encourage everybody to get involved.”
Bike Week features a diverse range of activities for all ages and abilities. Highlights of the week include: ‘Adaptive Mountain Bike Social Spin’ in Wicklow, ‘Generational Cycle on the Greenway’ in Limerick, ‘Donegal Bay Club League Race’, ‘Bike Doctor at the Coal Quay’ in Cork, and Dublin’s ‘Pedal Power’ cycling festival. All of this and many more exciting events are happening nationwide.
