Transport for Ireland (TFI) has launched a new campaign to highlight the range of evening and nighttime public transport services available across the country. ‘The TFI Network Works Later Than You Think‘ campaign encourages people to make greater use of the existing late night and 24-hour services on the network.
The campaign highlights the wide range of services operating after dark and shows how public transport can support shift workers, hospitality and retail staff, along with people attending events, meeting friends and family or those heading home after a night out.
From bus to rail to Luas and TFI Local Link services, the TFI network offers a safe, affordable and convenient way to travel. In Dublin, 15 bus routes operate 24 hours a day, while in Cork a 24-hour bus service connects Ballincollig and Carrigaline via the city centre. In Limerick, a 24-hour bus route links the city with Shannon Town and Airport. Galway’s late evening bus and rail services connect key destinations including Athlone and Ennis. Across the country, town bus and TFI Local Link services provide evening and nighttime travel options in locations including Drogheda, Kilkenny and Sligo.
The campaign is being supported by the Night-Time Economy Advisors in local authorities across Ireland.
Speaking on the campaign, Jeremy Ryan, Director of Public Transport Services, said:
“People may have more options for travelling in the evening and at night than they realise. Through this campaign, we want to encourage passengers to explore the services available in their area and consider public transport for their late-night journeys. These services play an important role in supporting Ireland’s nighttime economy by helping people travel to and from work, hospitality venues, cultural events and social activities.”
Passengers can plan their journeys and find details of the services available in their area using the Transport for Ireland (TFI Live) app or by visiting the TFI website, where journey planning tools, real-time information and service updates are available.
