What’s new?

What’s new is Phase 3 of the BusConnects Network Redesign is now operating in the north of Dublin.

This phase introduced northern orbital routes called the N4 and N6.

N4 Blanchardstown SC – Point Village via Collins Avenue
N6 Finglas – Howth Junction via Beaumont Hospital

The introduction of these new routes coincides with the removal of routes 17a and 31d.

How often do they run?

There is a bus every 10 minutes on both the N4 and N6 at most times on weekdays and Saturdays, with buses running every 15 minutes during the daytime on Sundays and every 20 minutes on Sunday evenings.

The N4 also has an overnight service, running every 30 minutes every night of the week.

How much are the fares?

If you use a TFI Leap Card, then the TFI 90 Minute Fare (TFI 90) will apply to most journeys in the Dublin area. It includes the option to transfer for free between Dublin City Bus (Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland), Luas, DART and commuter rail (zones 1 to 4 in the Short Hop Zone). Simply touch on at your first leg, change transport as often as you like and then touch on again as you start your last leg. Once you touch on your last journey within 90 minutes of the first you’ll only be charged the TFI 90 Fare.

TFI Leap Fares Adult Young Adult / Student Child

The other routes that will male up the new BusConnects network will be rolling out on a phased basis over the next few years. The next phase includes G-Spine & Southern Orbitals.

The good news is that on 9th May fares across the TFI network were reduced by an average of 20% and will remain that way until the end of 2022.

Some bus stops have moved. The N6 does not serve some stops on Ballymun Road.

Orbitals provide connections between suburbs, without having to travel into the City centre. They literally ‘orbit’ the city.

If you wish to travel between Blanchardstown and Ballymun, Santry, Beaumont, Coolock or Howth Junction, you need to transfer between the N4 and N6 at Finglas. But there is no additional cost when using your TFI Leap Card as the TFI 90 Minute Fare applies.
