Luas May Bank Holiday Weekend Service Changes – Luas : significant service changes will be in place on the Luas Red Line over the May Bank Holiday weekend, from Saturday 2 May to Bank Holiday Monday 4 May 2026, due to essential engineering works being carried out by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).

- Dart services will be impacted between Clontarf Road and Drogheda
- Northern Commuters will be impacted beteen Connolly and Drogheda & Skerries;

Iarnród Éireann reminds customers of May Bank Holiday weekend rail service arrangements, from Saturday 2nd to Monday 4th May inclusive.
The following rail service alterations and amendments will occur:
- DART services: Saturday 2nd, Sunday 3rd and Bank Holiday Monday 4th May
- There will be no DART service between Connolly and Malahide/Howth.
- DART services will operate between Connolly and Bray / Greystones only.
- The following DART stations will be closed: Malahide, Portmarnock, / Clongriffin / Howth / Sutton / Bayside / Howth Junction & Donaghmede / Kilbarrack / Raheny / Harmonstown / Killester and Clontarf Road.
- Northern Commuters: Saturday 2nd, Sunday 3rd and Bank Holiday Monday 4th May
- Please note that due to Engineering Works between Clontarf Road and Drogheda on Saturday 2nd, Sunday 3rd & Bank Holiday Monday 4th May, the following service alterations and amendments will occur:
- All Northern Commuter services are cancelled and will be replaced with a limited bus service ( details here)
- Only Belfast services will serve Dundalk.
- Laytown, Gormanston, Balbriggan, Skerries, Rush/Lusk and Donabate stations are closed.
- Belfast services: Saturday 2nd, Sunday 3rd and Bank Holiday Monday 4th May
- Due to Engineering Works between Clontarf Road and Drogheda
the following service alterations and amendments will take place
- Some times – Connolly to/from Belfast Grand Central train is cancelled
- Some times – Connolly to Belfast Grand Central will operate bus transfers from Connolly to Drogheda to meet train departing from Drogheda to Belfast Grand Central.
- Some times – Belfast Grand Central to Connolly will operate and will operate to Drogheda only, bus transfers from Drogheda to Connolly

Passengers are advised that significant service changes will be in place on the Luas Red Line over the May Bank Holiday weekend,

- due to essential engineering works being carried out by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).
Overview of Luas Red Line Service Disruptions
During this period, Luas Red Lineservices will operate on a reduced basis:
- Trams will operate only between Heuston and The Point.
- There will be no tram service between Tallaght/ Saggart and Heuston.
- A replacement bus service will operate every 15 minutes, serving affected Stops with some restrictions.
- Passengers travelling between Tallaght/ Saggart and Heuston (both directions) will need to change over bus at the Red Cow Luas Stop.
Sunday 3 May – Additional Disruptions
- Services on Sunday, May 3 will be further impacted due to the Dublin City Council Half Marathon, resulting in
- temporary adjustments across both Luas lines.
- Passengers are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time
- Luas Red Line
- From 7:00: Bus service operates to Heuston only.
- No tram service between Heuston and The Point until approximately 9:45am.
- From 9:45 (approx.): Tram service resumes between Heuston and Connolly only to facilitate the marathon finish on Guild Street.
- From 14:00: Full tram service resumes between Connolly and The Point.
- Luas Green Line
- 7:00 – 9:30: No tram service between St Stephen’s Green and Dominick
- Trams will operate:
- Brides Glen to St Stephen’s Green
- Broombridge to Dominick
Bank Holiday Monday 4 May
- Luas will operate a Sunday timetable and frequency
- The restricted Red Line service (Heuston to The Point only) will remain in place until end of service
- An emergency exercise will take place at Belgard Luas Stop on Monday morning involving several agencies (link)
(Note: there is no tram service at Belgard during this time)
Return to Normal Service
Full Luas Red Line services are expected to resume on Tuesday 5 May 2026.
