Luas is Dublin’s Light Rail (tram) network, operating two lines:

  • Red Line: 32 stops — from Tallaght/Saggart to Connolly/The Point via the city centre
  • Green Line: 35 stops — from Brides Glen to Broombridge via the city centre

Operating Hours

  • Mon–Fri: 05:30 – 00:30
  • Saturday: 06:30 – 00:30
  • Sunday & Public Holidays: 07:00 – 23:00
  • No service on Christmas Day

Trams run every 3–4 minutes at peak and every 15 minutes at night.

Tickets & Fares

To travel on Luas, you must have a valid ticket, pass, or TFI Leap Card, validated at the stop before boarding. Tickets are not sold on trams.

TFI Leap Card

Single & Return Tickets

  • Single: valid for 90 minutes from time of issue, for one trip only
  • Return: valid for same-day travel; first trip must be within 90 minutes from time of issue
  • Student or young adult fares are not applicable for single/return tickets from ticket machines

Child, Student and Young Adult Tickets

  • Ages 0–4: travel free (proof of age may be required)
  • Child Leap Cards available for:
    • Ages 5–15
    • Ages 16–18
  • Young Adult Leap Cards available for 19-25 years old.
  • Student Leap cards available for 3rd level students. (same fares apply to Student and Young Adult Leap Cards).

Switching Lines

You can transfer between Red and Green Lines from Abbey Street (Red Line) to either Marlborough Street or O’Connell GPO (Green Line). All transfers are a 1–2-minute walk.
