Join the Bike Week Photo Competition! Celebrate Bike Week 2025 by taking part in the Bike Week Photo Competition, hosted by Ballisodare Bay Cycling Club!
Transition Year students will be encouraged to bring their bike to school and participate in a historical ‘Castles Tour’ going from Coláiste Iognáid to Terryland Castle to Menlo Castle.
Grassroutes Bike Hire will run eight inclusive cycling classes during Bike Week 2025 for students from Little Angels and St Bernadette’s schools. Sessions include bike fitting, safety checks, and adapted cycling skills, promoting confidence, physical activity, and independence. All equipment is provided, making cycling accessible and enjoyable for all abilities.
Bike Maintenance Workshops for Women and Girls
Members of Naomh Padraig Uisce Chaoin will take part in an event aiming to promote and encourage the use of the new Greenway when traveling to and from matches/training. The event will involve a one hour session at the club led by local cycling coaches focusing on cycling skills, cycling safety and guidelines for using the greenway. This will be followed by a guided cycle on the greenway and refreshments in the clubhouse.

A practical bike maintenance workshop in Golden Village for beginners, offering hands-on tips and essential bike care skills.
This event will take place on athletics track which will afford the participants an opportunity to try different bikes and trikes in a safe environment. Participants get to try many different types of bikes including electric bikes, and trikes, recumbent E-Trikes and Side by Side bikes as well as a range of adapted bikes.
Climate Action Laois County Council are giving local Portlaoise Businesses a chance to try out e-bikes and e-cargo bikes starting from the Midlands Park Hotel and going for a cycle down the scenic Triogue Way
