The National Transport Authority (NTA), in partnership with Dublin Bus, are extending Route L14 to Cherrywood via Shankill. The extended service will begin operation on Sunday, 15th June.

This significant enhancement nearly doubles the coverage area of Route L14, providing more convenient and accessible public transport options for passengers and communities across South Dublin.

The extension aims to improve connectivity between Southern Cross, Bray, Palermo, Shankhill, Loughlinstown and Cherrywood while also offering a key transport link with the Green Line Luas in Cherrywood.

The enhancement also delivers a bus service for residents in the area of Laughanstown. It supports the area’s rapid growth and the ongoing development of new homes, ensuring convenient and reliable transportation for the community.

Phase 6A of BusConnects enhances connectivity in the region

Originally introduced as part of Phase 6A of BusConnects, which was launched in January this year, the extended service builds on its current success by further enhancing connectivity in the region and improving its integration with Dublin’s wider public transport network.

35 return services Monday to Friday, 32 on Saturdays, 30 on Sundays

The route will continue to operate every half an hour seven days a week, offering 35 return services Monday to Friday. The service will also continue to operate 32 return services on Saturdays, with 30 return services on Sundays and public holidays, ensuring enhanced transport connections for both weekdays and weekends.

In addition to the new connection to Cherrywood Luas stop, Route L14 will continue to serve to Bray Train Station.  Passengers will also continue to benefit from convenient interchange options with the 24-hour E1 as well as other local services.

Route L14 extension in response to valuable customer feedback

Jeremy Ryan, Director of Public Transport Services at the National Transport Authority, said: “Building on the success of the initial launch of the L14 under Phase 6A of BusConnects in January, we’ve taken on board valuable customer feedback highlighting the need for stronger onward connectivity.
In response, we’re pleased to announce that Route L14 will now extend to serve Cherrywood, Shankill, and connect with the Luas Green Line – making the serviced more accessible and convenient for our passengers”
