The Luas Green Line Service is not operating on Thursday December 11th.

This follows a power outage on the Green Line yesterday.

Luas Red Line services are operating normally.

Luas tickets are being accepted on TFI bus services (operated by Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland), DART and Iarnród Éireann services from Broombridge.
We would advise all customers to please allow extra time for your journey, as these other TFI services are likely to be busy.

Use the TFI Journey Planner / TFI Live App to plan your route.

Luas Engineers have identified that the fault lies within a critical low-voltage safety system known as the 48-volt system.

This is not the overhead power system that powers the trams. Rather, it is part of the safety network that links substations to the central control room and allows power to be safely controlled and monitored across the line.

In simple terms, this safety system is designed to shut down power to the overhead lines in the event of an emergency. The system is currently detecting a fault condition and, for safety reasons, will not permit the power to be fully restored until that condition is resolved.

As a result, services on the Green Line remain suspended while repair work continues.

Multiple Luas technicians are working to identify the source of the fault and restore power.

There are currently 18 trams on the Luas Green Line. These are all parked at Luas stops, with security deployed to each location. 6 trams will be moved this morning and early afternoon.

Luas is currently unable to give a definite time for the return of service. We fully appreciate and understand the impact this is having on Luas customers and the travelling public.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

All lifts and escalators are in full working order.

Kind Regards,
TFI and Luas Customer Service
