Storm Goretti is expected to bring rain, heavy at times, which will turn to sleet and snow in places on Thursday afternoon, 8th January
A Status Yellow weather warning is in place for counties Cork, Kerry, Waterford and Wexford.
Valid: 12:00 Thursday 08/01/2026 to 20:00 Thursday 08/01/2026.
Potential impacts include hazardous travelling conditions, spot flooding, poor visibility, icy patches and black ice.

Update Monday 5th January
Due to wintry showers with sleet and some snow accumulations, as well as sharp frost, icy stretches and black ice, public transport services may be disrupted – delayed or curtailed – on Monday and Tuesday 5th and 6th January. Temperatures may fall to -5 degrees.
Status Yellow weather warnings: Low Temperature/Ice warning for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Munster, Galway, Roscommon.
There is a Snow-Ice warning for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo.
