Ballyhoura Bike Week 2026

Ballyhoura is celebrating Bike Week 2026 with a fun-filled weekend of mountain biking adventures, skills sessions, and family-friendly rides.
Ballyhoura CLG & Cycling Ireland are delighted to offer a host of different sessions across two days.

Ballyhoura Bike Week
Saturday 9th May
Drop-In Skills Area
11:00am – 4:00pm
No booking required.

Come and give mountain biking a go in our drop-in skills area. This supervised area will include flat-ground skills practice along with features such as ramps and an MTB Hopper to let riders try some fun skills in a controlled environment. Just bring your bike and join in at any stage during the day.

Try MTB – Teens and Adults

These beginner-friendly sessions are ideal for anyone looking to try mountain biking for the first time. Each session will include bike set-up, helmet checks, and an introduction to basic skills such as braking, gears, and trail awareness, followed by a ride on the green loop.

Session Times:

11:00am – 12:30pm
1:00pm – 2:30pm
2:30pm – 4:00pm
Pre-booking is strongly advised. If spaces remain, limited on-the-day sign-up may be available.

Intermediate Mountain Biking
Own bike required
These sessions are aimed at riders with some off-road experience who want to build confidence and develop their skills further. Groups will head out on the blue trail and descend selected red sections.

Session Times:

10:30am – 12:30pm
1:00pm – 3:00pm
Pre-booking is strongly advised. If spaces remain, limited on-the-day sign-up may be available.

Advanced Skills Sessions
Own bike essential
These focused sessions are for more experienced riders who want to work on specific technical skills.

Session Options:

Tabletops / Introduction to Jumps — 10:30am – 12:00pm
Pump and Flow — 12:30pm – 2:00pm
Technical / Fast Cornering — 2:30pm – 4:00pm

Sunday 10th May
Guided group rides will run with four staff in total, with one leader at the front and one at the back of each group.

Group Ride – Blue Loop
10:00am – 11:30am
A relaxed group ride on the blue loop. Children are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Group Ride – Longer Route
9:30am – 12:00pm
A longer group ride for teens and adults, likely including some red trail sections.
