From Saturday, 27 June new service on Bus Route 667 by TFI Local Link Waterford
The National Transport Authority (NTA) has today announced the introduction of a new pilot bus stop on Route 667, operating between Dungarvan and Waterford.
From Saturday, 27 June, TFI Local Link Waterford will serve the new stop at Mount Congreve Gardens with one return service operating on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays throughout the summer months.
The initiative aims to improve accessibility to one of the region’s most popular visitor attractions while encouraging the use of public transport for leisure travel.
As part of the pilot, Mount Congreve Gardens will offer discounted admission rates to visitors travelling by TFI Local Link services. Garden admission will be reduced to €12 for adults and €10 for seniors upon presentation of a valid bus ticket.
The new stop is being facilitated due to minor timetable adjustments that were made to enhance service reliability. The route will continue to provide four return trips per day.
Edmund Betagh, TFI Local Link Programme Manager at the National Transport Authority, said:
“This pilot reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing public transport connectivity while supporting tourism and local amenities. By working in partnership with Mount Congreve Gardens and TFI Local Link Waterford, we are providing more accessible, affordable, and sustainable travel options that encourage people to choose public transport for leisure journeys. We look forward to reviewing the impact of this initiative later in the year.”
Damien Tobin, Manager of TFI Local Link Waterford, said:
“TFI Local Link Waterford is delighted to support this pilot initiative in partnership with the NTA and Mount Congreve Gardens. By introducing this new stop on Route 667, we are making it easier for both locals and visitors to access one of Waterford’s most treasured attractions without needing a car. This initiative highlights the important role rural public transport plays in connecting people to leisure and tourism opportunities in a more sustainable way.”
Sara Dolan, CEO of Mount Congreve Gardens and Waterford Treasures, said: “We are delighted to partner with the National Transport Authority and TFI Local Link Waterford on this exciting initiative. Improving access to Mount Congreve Gardens through public transport supports our commitment to sustainability while making one of Ireland’s most celebrated gardens more accessible to visitors from across the region.
The introduction of a dedicated bus stop creates new opportunities for local communities, day-trippers and tourists to enjoy the gardens, the Stables Café and the wider estate without relying on a car. Visitors can spend the day exploring our world-renowned gardens and exhibitions, enjoying breakfast, lunch or sweet treats in the Stables Café, browsing the Foxford store and letting younger visitors enjoy the children’s playground and Wetlands Walk. We are particularly pleased to support the pilot with discounted admission, helping more people experience the beauty, tranquility and horticultural significance of Mount Congreve.”
The pilot scheme will run throughout the summer and will be reviewed in September
