We are continuously working to improve our level of accessibility and are happy to receive feedback on any issues you find.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible as per the requirements set out in WCAG 2.1 Level AA:

  • Keyboard: Login / Buy Ticket / Register: The keyboard user cannot focus pages with form fields
  • Keyboard: General: Some pages require multiple tab-stops before reaching the page content
  • Screen Readers: Change Password: Password requirements described incorrectly
  • Screen Readers: Buy Ticket: Warning message about unavailable stop combination is not announced. Input field and button focused together with wrong attached action. Switch button has no label associated. Accordion elements don’t announce collapsed/expanded state. Status message for no search results is not announced. Section headers announce with an additional ‘title’ string, but without a heading announcement and can’t be navigated in heading navigation. No information that search suggestions are available. Messages are not announced when they are displayed.
  • Screen Readers: Many Pages: Errors are not announced when they appear, are not associated with the elements with errors. The link for Bus Éireann Conditions of Carriage doesn’t focus separately or announce as link. Text fields announce no labels when empty or when data is entered. Buttons announce as plain text and disabled buttons don’t announce disabled state. More Actions button repeats button role
  • Keyboard Navigation: Many Pages: Links and buttons can’t be focused or used with keyboard. Keyboard focus indicator fails colour contrast requirements
  • Screen Readers: Edit Account Data: Disabled text field not announced as disabled
  • Screen Readers: Ticket Activation: Switch control is announced with unclear role and state. Operator not announced in ticket preview. Number of available tickets announces without context
  • Screen Readers/Voice Input: Account Details: Visible button label and accessible name don’t correspond
  • Colour Contrast: FAQs / Ticket: some links fail colour requirements against white background
  • Time: Payment: User gets logged out of payment gateway session without warning
  • Instruction: Signup/Account: Input fields are not marked as required
  • Orientation: Global: App doesn’t work in landscape orientation
  • Instruction: Buy Ticket: Disabled low-contrast button is used for instruction
  • Colour Contrast: Many Pages: Switch controls fail colour contrast in disabled state
  • Colour: Navigation / FAQs: The currently selected navigation and FAQ link is only distinguished by use of colour
  • Label: Buy Ticket: The search fields in the ‘From’ and ‘To’ screens have no visible label
  • Screen Readers: Terms and Conditions: Heading levels not correctly marked up
  • Page Titles: Buy Ticket: Page titles are not unique
  • Errors: Signup: Error messages don’t describe error cause
  • Screen Readers: Reset Password: Unnecessary ‘ACCESSIBILITY_requirements’ string announced as part of field description
  • Screen Readers: Start screen: Logos are not focusable and not announced
  • Screen Readers: Ticket: Seconds since activation counter doesn’t announce for screen reader users. Activation and expiration dates are read with incorrect date format. Security arrow image announces as unlabelled.
  • Screen Readers: Sign Up/Log In: Redundant field labels announce confusingly
  • Animation: Ticket: There is no way to pause the moving content on the activated ticket. Colours don’t meet colour contrast requirements unless clicked.
