Passengers travelling on TFI Local Link services across Longford, Westmeath, Roscommon can now benefit from contactless payment options, following the latest phase of the National Transport Authority’s nationwide rollout programme. The new payment option will make journeys easier and more convenient by allowing customers to pay using a debit or credit card, as well as digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
The introduction of contactless payments across Longford, Westmeath, Roscommon builds on a successful pilot programme in Cavan and Monaghan and follows recent rollouts across several other TFI Local Link service areas, including Louth, Meath, Fingal, as well as Limerick and Clare. The ongoing expansion of contactless payments reflects positive passenger feedback and the NTA’s commitment to providing modern, user-friendly payment options for people using rural and regional public transport.
Contactless payment is currently available for single journey fares. Daily and weekly fare products continue to be available via the Leap website and the TFI Leap Top Up App. TFI Leap cards, cash payments and Free Travel Cards remain valid for use across all eligible TFI Local Link services.
The rollout forms part of the NTA’s ongoing programme to modernise public transport fare systems nationwide, with a particular emphasis on improving accessibility and enhancing the passenger experience in rural and regional communities.
