Over 35,000 JAM Cards and app registrations have been issued across Ireland
The National Transport Authority (NTA), in partnership with NOW Group, today launched the 2026 JAM Campaign, marking seven years of promoting accessibility and inclusion across the TFI public transport network and announced the introduction of a new “Ramp Please” card to support passengers requiring assistance when boarding bus services.

The JAM Card, which stands for “Just A Minute”, enables passengers with learning difficulties, autism, or other communication barriers to subtly indicate that they may need a little extra time, patience, or understanding in public and social situations.
The JAM Card is accepted across Bus Éireann, Dublin Bus, Go-Ahead Ireland, Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail), Luas, and TFI Local Link services nationwide. Passengers can present either their physical JAM Card or the JAM Card App, which is available free of charge on Android and iOS devices.
Since its introduction, the initiative has seen significant growth. To date, over 35,000 JAM Cards and app registrations have been issued across Ireland, reflecting the NTA’s ongoing commitment to ensuring public transport is inclusive and accessible for everyone.
A new “Ramp Please” card has also been introduced, enabling passengers with disabilities to discreetly request a boarding ramp when using TFI bus services. This makes bus travel more accessible, inclusive and comfortable for passengers who may face communication barriers or who prefer a non-verbal way to communicate their needs.
Speaking at the campaign launch, Anne Shaw, Chief Executive Officer of the NTA, said: “I am delighted to see the continued success of the JAM Card initiative and the difference it is making in the lives of so many people across Ireland. Accessibility is not simply a service enhancement, it is a fundamental part of delivering a public transport system that works for everyone.
“The JAM Card empowers people to travel with greater confidence and independence, while fostering understanding and kindness across the network. Alongside the introduction of the new ‘Ramp Please’ card, it reflects our ongoing commitment to listening to passengers, removing barriers, and creating a transport system where everyone feels welcome and supported.”
Maeve Monaghan, CEO of NOW Group commented: “We are thrilled that the NTA are continuing to support the JAM Card initiative across the transport network in Ireland. Making it easier for JAM Card users to travel on public transport makes a big impact to the lives of those with hidden disabilities. We are incredibly thankful for the NTA recognising the importance of one of the leading accessibility and inclusion tools for its service users.”
JAM Cards and “Ramp Please” cards are available from TFI operators across the country or can be requested from the TFI Customer Contact Centre. For further information, please visit: https://www.transportforireland.ie/accessibility/jam-card/
